I’ve been holding off on starting this blog for a few weeks now, because I wanted to start one as I launched a new Web site developed through Dreamweaver. Since I’m taking too long to create that site, I suppose I’ll go ahead and start this blog in the meantime as a place to journal my thoughts on visual journalism and its place in domestic politics and international affairs. Additionally, I hope to document some of my own journey as a visual storyteller. You can also find a little bit about me, my resume and some featured work.
A bit about me: I’m a 22-year-old senior at the Missouri School of Journalism studying Convergence Journalism with an emphasis in Information Graphics. I work as a graphics artist for the Columbia Missourian (6,500 circulation daily newspaper) and as an online contributor for KOMU-8 TV (mid-Missouri NBC affiliate), where I primarily write stories for the Web and create Flash graphics as supplementary coverage. To pay the bills, I also work as a media assistant in a journalism computer lab on campus and as a server at Longhorn Restaurant. In what spare time I muster, I play for the men’s ultimate frisbee team at Mizzou and I try to read as much as I can (currently reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan).
So, that’s me. I’ll have a lot more to say later, but I wanted to introduce myself. Thanks for following.
